ʻŌLA Alumni Lei Hulu Making Workshop with Kumu Mele Kahalepuna-Chun
Aloha ʻŌLA Alumni,
It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Alumni Netweaving Event last week! We’re grateful that you took the time to reconnect, meet our new ʻŌLA coaches and facilitators, and share in the exciting updates shaping our growing alumni community.
We’re thrilled to announce our next opportunity to connect and learn together, a Lei Hulu Workshop led by Kumu Mele Kahalepuna-Chun, where we’ll craft our own ʻŌLA Alumni kamoe-style lei hulu. This workshop will take place on Oahu, Tuesday, November 11 (Veteranʻs Day) from 12:00 – 4:00 PM.
Together, we will learn the cherished art of lei hulu using feather colors that represent and honor Cohort 1 and Cohort 2, celebrating our shared journeys and experiences as ʻŌLA alumni. Each participant will receive the ʻike, tools, and materials to continue their lei hulu practice beyond this workshop, with the intention of wearing your lei proudly at Cohort 3’s hōʻike in June 2026, as we welcome them into our growing alumni community.
Workshop Details
Session limited to 20 alumni participants (please indicate your interest by RSVPʻing to this invitation)
Second session: December 10, 2025 (for those unable to attend Session 1)
Registration fee: $100 – includes a complete lei hulu kit and beautiful feathers
Light refreshments provided
Note: You will begin your lei during the workshop and complete it on your own time
What to Expect
You will be taught the techniques and provided with supplies, but you will not complete the lei during this four-hour session. You will finish your beautiful lei hulu on your own time.

To ensure Kumu Mele and the OLA team can prepare the correct amount of specialized supplies for everyone, we need your RSVP as soon as possible.
Even if you are only tentatively planning to attend the November 11th workshop, please RSVP "Yes" now so we can secure your materials.
We will be sending out a follow-up email soon with important information on:

We look forward to sharing this beautiful cultural experience with you on November 11th.
Mahalo nui!
