Uluhiwa Strategy and Experience, Kamehameha Schools

Kēhaunani Abad, PhD, is Vice President of Uluhiwa Strategy and Experience at Kamehameha Schools, where she helps guide strategy, communications, and alignment with ʻike Hawaiʻi and systems transformation. Her work spans education, cultural preservation, publishing, and policy advocacy, with a longstanding focus on Hawaiian well-being and self-determination. She previously served as Director of Kamehameha Publishing, Director of Community Engagement at the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, and as a kumu at Kamehameha Schools Kapālama. She helped establish and continues to support Kanaeokana, a network of over 140 Hawaiian education and cultural organizations. Kēhaunani holds a PhD in anthropology with a focus on Hawaiian archaeology. Raised in Waiʻanae and grounded in the teachings of her ʻohana from Kohala, her work is rooted in aloha ʻāina and the intergenerational stewardship of knowledge, community, and place.
