Kenneth Makuakāne is recognized as the producer of producers of Hawaiian music. He has recorded many groups, including Nā Leo, HAPA, Amy Hānaiali’i Gilliom, Raʻiātea Helm, and the Pandanus Club. He is a songwriter of over one thousand five hundred songs. He has received twenty-seven Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards. He also received nine Big Island Music Awards. He has been recognized in the National Registry of Who’s Who. On June 8, 2006, Kenneth was inducted into the Kamehameha Schools Alumni Gallery Hall of Fame. Makuakāne is the Hawaiʻi Academy of Recording Arts recipient of the prestigious 2015 Lifetime Achievement Awards for his lifeʻs work in the music industry. Reverend Kenneth Makuakāne was ordained and installed on May 5, 2018, as senior pastor of Kawaiahaʻo Church. On February 20, 2025, Kenneth was conferred the Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters (L.H.D.) by the University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents.
