Rick Fernandez

RETIRED MILITARY

Rick has over 49 years of experience in US Federal and commercial program management, design and construction project management, facilities, emergency, environmental, and financial management, 30 years of which were in the Pacific region. He served in key executive positions directing engineering operations and programs in Southwest Asia, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa, and the US. He is a retired US Air Force Colonel in the Civil Engineer Corps, who held four command positions where he managed airbase operations, facilities, and infrastructure design and construction. As a RED HORSE Commander, he directed a self-sufficient, worldwide deployable construction company of 404 military personnel in program/project management, design and construction, logistics, transportation, and support services. He is a member of a number of professional organizations and non-profits. He is a life member of the Society of American Military Engineers, was a member of the Executive Committee, Military Affairs Council, Chamber of Commerce Hawaii, Board of Directors of the Navy League Honolulu Council, USAF RED HORSE Association, US Air Force Association, Marine Corps Association and Association of the US Army. He is the Past President and on the Executive Board of the Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce, the Past President and board member of the Prince Kuhio Hawaiian Civic Club, and Hawai’i Maoli. Rick is originally from Wailua, Kauaʻi, raised on Moloka’i, and now resides in Honolulu with his wife Charlene, originally from Haleʻiwa, Oahu.
